greenhouse propagation
All flowers used around the prison grounds are started from seed or propagated by students in the greenhouse. The program grows thousands of annuals, perennials, vegetables, and houseplants. During peak growing season, up to 600 pounds of produce per day is harvested and used by the kitchens. The majority of houseplants are sold to wholesalers; we also participate in the Master Gardener's yearly plant sale. Every spring, 400 hanging baskets are grown and sold by students. Hands-on landscaping projects give students a chance to put their knowledge to practical use. This program has teamed up with the University of Washington's Landscape Architect students to design creative, functional, out of the box landscaping designs for prison systems.

Christmastime at the Governor's Mansion

Every year WCCW is the sole decorator for the Governor's Mansion. We design all the wreaths, garlands, and tablescapes. Our residents also travel to the mansion to decorate and have lunch with the Governor.
